RSG's Summer Programs 2017
Summer programs in both central and western PA were a great success this year!
Summer programs were held at our Gettysburg, as well as our Harmony Area School District and Blacklick Valley Elementary Center sites. We focused on STEM, art, music, history, culture and more! Students had the opportunity to work hands-on at various projects throughout the summer.
We received special funding through National Marine Sanctuary Foundation for the Green STEMs project at Harmony and Blacklick. Students used real-life STEM skills to conduct scientific experiments in the field. We documented data that was reported for use by scientists; used technology to determine water quality of a portion of the West Branch of the Susquehanna river; and much more. Our goal through this opportunity was to "engage in exciting, locally-based field studies designed to inspire an increased understanding and stewardship of watersheds and related ocean, coastal, riverine, estuarine, and Great Lakes ecosystems." Based on their data, research and experiences, students produced a public service announcement (video above) about how you can conserve water at home.
